Youth smARTS & Creative for Inclusion and Participation!
Summary
Education often fails to provide important skills for employment and life, so art and culture should be seen as 'forces' to provide relevant skills. Traditional teaching and learning is collapsing in the EU, becoming obsolete as European societies become more intercultural, flexible and inclusive. In our countries, the traditional education system fails as long as the generations that leave school become NEET.
Eurostat statistics show that: Romania 17.3%, Spain16%, France 14%, Portugal 9.5%.
Youth work needs to increase inclusion and the narrow gap between the skills acquired by young people and needs the labor market, including through the use of arts and culture-based methods.
Societal and technological changes transform what it means to express yourself creatively. Young people can now access instructions and inspiration, produce their own content, reach the public in impossible ways before the advent of social media and accessible technology (Instagram, YouTube, etc.). Project partners are also struggling to meet these challenges. Similar needs are highlighted: young people need to be equipped with transversal skills, otherwise they would fail. Failure leads to EXCLUSION throughout their lives.
Young people should find different activities and artistic projects to develop their creativity, talents and potential.
Experts and youth workers, other key players need a renewed and fresh approach to be inclusive and supportive for all.
PURPOSE: To create a framework for collaboration to enable youth workers and other professionals involved in youth work to increase the quality of their work and their initiatives and services to support young people (including the vulnerable) to develop their creative potential, for to have professional and personal success and to connect the cultural and creative sectors through art and creativity programs and an entrepreneurial mindset.
